I've never commissioned art before. Will I mess this up?
You won't. Over 90% of my clients are first timers, and the entire process is built around that. After you purchase, you'll take a 5 minute Character Blueprint Quest that walks you through exactly what I need. No art degree required.
Not sure how to describe something? That's literally what the revision process is for. I'll ask clarifying questions, and we keep refining until it feels right. The hardest part is clicking order.
Still nervous? See how other first timers felt when they finally saw their portrait.

How do I describe my character if I don't have references?
No references? No problem.
Most of my clients start with just a character sheet or a description. I'll guide you through everything I need using my Character Blueprint (think of it as a friendly interview about your vision).
If you're stuck on something, I'll ask questions. One client said, "I only knew their personality, not their looks," and we still nailed it.
You can also pull inspiration from existing art or just describe the vibe. I'll translate your vision into something visual.

How does the commission process work?
Simple: Once you secure your slot, you'll get an instant confirmation email plus a personal message from me within 24 hours.
Depending on which commission type, I'll send you the Character Blueprint to fill out (or you can just tell me about them casually).
In about 2 weeks, you'll see your first polished draft (not a rough sketch). From there, we refine it together with unlimited revisions until you get that "that's exactly them" feeling.
You'll receive high-resolution files perfect for printing, VTTs, or framing.

How long does it take to complete a commission?
You'll see your first polished draft in about 2 weeks. From there, revisions are usually wrapped up within a few days to a week, depending on how many tweaks you want.
I keep you updated throughout and respond to messages within 24 hours. No ghosting, no chasing me for updates. You'll always know where we're at.

Can I request revisions to my portrait?
Unlimited revisions. Seriously. Most artists cap you at 2-3 rounds and then charge extra. I don't.
We keep refining until the portrait looks exactly how they've always looked in your mind. The eyes feel off? We fix it. The scar isn't quite right? We adjust it.
No extra charges, no impatient emails. Your vision, your standards. (99% of requested changes are made free of charge, only large adjustments such as pose changes are extra)

If you can add the commission to your cart and checkout, that means I'm currently taking orders.
Slots fill up quickly and I only take a limited number each month (since I personally create every piece).
If it's sold out, join the email list and you'll be the first to know when I reopen.
I typically release new slots as I complete commissions, so check back weekly.

Can I have multiple characters in a single portrait?
Absolutely. For group portraits, each character takes about a week to create, and I craft them individually first to ensure each one is perfect.
For orders with 3+ characters, I'll create a custom background at no extra cost and bring the whole party together into a single cohesive scene. Every party member also gets their own individual portrait file.

Franzer was and is a character near and dear to my heart. The little troublemaker needed the right hand to capture the moxie and chutzpah of his personality, and Jan did that in spades. To look at him, you know he knows how this fight is going to go, and do you really want to find that out for yourself?
This was my second portrait with Jan, and as the first, she was very responsive to my wants at the start, and my comments for adjustments and tweaks - during the process she essentially invented an insignia that I intend to use as his mark in the future.
It was a pleasure working with Jan again, and it is not the last time. Highly recommended if you are looking for your RPG character, your story protagonist, or just the fantasy image you've imagined foreve and want to see made real.
Store owner replied:
Thank you so much, Noam! Likewise, it’s always a pleasure working with you, and I really appreciate the lovely review. I’m so glad I got to bring Franzer to life :)
Jan really knows how to work with you and is patient when email communication goes awry. Will come back for my other characters in time.
Store owner replied:
Thank you for the kind words! Looking forward to working with you again Marjorie!
Jan has been a consummate professional and a wonderful visionary. I've enjoyed working with her every step of the way! She's careful, considerate, and even thought of small details that I honestly hadn't before. She made my Returned weapon Master, Hrod, come to life far more realized than I ever could. If you have even an inkling that you'd like to have a character portrait made, Jan is the person to turn to!
Store owner replied:
Thank you for the lovely review Stewart! 🥹 It was a pleasure bringing Hrod to life!
As my first experience requesting character art, I truly appreciate Jan's method-her character blueprint sheet, emails asking particulars of chracter(s), her excellent customer service, and of course the final product!
Love that I have full commercial use, such HUGE plus.
Thank you so much, Jan. It was a pleasure working with you and I'm very happy with the chracter art!

Thank you Liset! It was a pleasure working with you as well! Glad you love the final portraits!
Resubmitting a review because autocorrect got Jan's name wrong! Initially saw their art on Instagram and was immediately excited by the idea of a moving image of my character. From the quest to the blueprint to the actual commission process the entire journey was fun, transparent and collaborative. I hadn't commissioned anything for an OC or d&d character for myself before and this turned out spectacular. I really feel like all of the ideas stuck in my head got captured. 11/10 have already recommended!

Thank you Jennifer! It was a pleasure bringing Gleamorine to life! :)
I initially saw Tad's for Jan's work on Instagram and immediately was excited about the idea of getting a commission with movement done for my d&d character. From the initial quest, the blueprint and every step along the way the experience was stress free, transparent and collaborative. This was my first time commissioning an OC piece for myself and I am over the moon. It really feels like everything that was in my head about Gleamorine got captured in the artwork. 11/10 have already recommended to my friends
Jan is an amazing artist to work with. Communication is on point and I was able to easily relate my character to her viva emails. I'm so thrilled with how the portrait of my character, Mance Deathstorm, was brought to reality. Definitely going to return as a customer again.
Store owner replied:
Thank you Dyzan! It was a pleasure working with you! I'm glad you love how Mance turned out :)
As a first time commissioner, Jan made it real easy to bring my character to life.
Jan was very friendly and responded quickly to emails about matching every detail I had envisioned for my character and seemed very invested in making this project with me.
I will be using Framed Fantasy again for all my future characters as I know they will be in good hands being made real with Jan:)
This is the second portrait I've comissioned from Jan of my girl Tav, and once again I could not be happier with how it turned out. She did such a wonderful job capturing her personality and the comfortable, lived in feel of the balcony I always imagined she would sit on after a long day of work at the courthouse. The care put into every detail really shows through, and as with last time, I would absolutely reccommend her for any character that means something to you!
About a week of back and forth emails and I got an awesome portrait of my level 8 wood elf! Her communication was great and she tried hard to get all the details right! I will definitely keep her in mind when I want other characters done!
I can't believe how much this commission is exactly what I had pictured in my head at the start of the process. Jan has an incredible talent of drawing out exactly what you want and nailing it! The revision process is a breeze (if even needed) and Jan is super quick to respond and never gives you a reason to worry you wasted your money. Highly recommend!
Jan was patient and great to work with. They asked great questions about my character before the process started and was a patient when things were quite right. Would highly recommend.
I've had nothing but good experiences with commissions from Jan and seeing my character brought to life has certainly made playing them all the more enjoyable. I will almost certainly be returning for either more art of my current character or a new character all together.
My first D&D character means a lot to me. And evolved into such a complicated design. I worried it was too much, even compared to Jan's resume. However, Jan was willing to listen and dive deep to bring my character to life. Worth!
This isn't my first time here, and I admit that I have a specific set of wants when looking for artists to work with. I normally spend hours agonizing over details and wondering if my vision of a character is even possible, but FramedFantasy is one of the few I've gotten to work with who has been on top of things, communicative, and managed to execute my ideas with my minimal ability to describe! I can't recommend enough!!!!
I love working with Jan so much on all my character art for my novels!! She is absolutely WONDERFUL to work with, and if you can dream it, she can draw it! The quality of her work is always phenomenal, and I love her concepts so much. This last one I ended up needing both versions because I couldn't choose! If you're looking for an artist to bring your vision to life, she's your gal!!
Jan helped me with my father's day gift. She did an amazing job creating the scene and the aesthetic of his wow character and stayed true to my vision!
This experience was so much fun! This commission process was both enjoyable and also thurough, there's not many people out there willing to gather and work with so much detail! I certainly cannot wait to get another one done. Fantastic services, fantastic work, and it was a fun process!
Worked with me on multiple iterations until we achieved my perfect character sheet. I am so pleased with the final result! Would definitely recommend them for your special PC/NPC needs!
This was my first experience with commissioning artwork of any kind. After hearing many tales of commission experiences riddled with issues, I was honestly a bit nervous, but I decided to try anyway after finding Jan and Framed Fantasy. I am so glad I made that decision! Jan was an absolute pleasure to work with and I found myself much more at ease from the very first bit of communication! She was friendly, very on top of communication and the portrait of my girl Tav turned out exactly the way I always pictured her. Absolutely would recommend for any character that means something to you!
Jan was so great with communication and making any updates I requested. She also provided multiple drafts and a timelapse of her drawing my character. Will definitely be purchasing again in the future for any DnD character I need drawn.
Jan was awesome! She made any and all updates I requested, was very communicative and provided multiple first drafts for me to choose from. Easy to download and high quality. In the future, will be using her for any other DnD character drawings.
It was an amazing experience to develop my character, from the free archetype adventure on the webpage, to the smaller details and clarifications, I never felt that it was a chore for Jan to draw what I had in mind, even if I was apprehensive at first. The communication between us made me comfortable to open up and share whatever I imagined about my character.
What's more important, you deal with a real artist who will put their own personal touch on your character, will offer input on certain details, ask questions that are meant to give you a clearer picture, and make even the perosnality of your character shine. Not a LLM chatbot that will just copy and paste whatever it has found online, present the "edgelord" version of your vision, and whatever corrections you make, two more flaws appear like a hydra.
This was such a lovely experience. The quest was so much fun to do to help my character come to life. The way she captured Malverus' expression and personality is just awesome! 5/5!
Revin is the character I was able to make thanks to winning the Hall of Heroes raffle. And I'm once again blown away by how Jan is able to capture my characters in these pieces.
He's my next character in a new campaign, and I am so happy with how he turned out. Jan was able to create it from my references and requests exactly how I thought of him in my mind, even being able to make any alterations to the piece quickly.
Communication is always easy, and never feels like a hassle or chore.
This is the second piece I've had made by Jan, and there will be many more in the future!
Jan did a fantastic job taking my idea and bringing it to life! She was extremely communicative and worked with me even when I had a few last minute changes, I couldn't be happier with the final version. Absolutely wonderful!
Absolutely amazing with the artwork and the communication back and forth with the edits and changes. She truly brought my PC to life with the portrait and the video.
I had a wonderful experience with FramedFantasy. They were highly responsive, easy to work with, and the final product was exceptional.
I described what I wanted done, which style, and some photos for examples. They completely understood what I was going for and hit the ground running. The commission was done much quicker than I expected and looked amazing. 11/10, would recommend.
Hundreds of five-star reviews across every platform I'm on. Hundreds more
