What kinds of custom portraits do you create?

Mostly D&D character portraits. I love seeing the characters people have been picturing finally become portraits they can keep.

You can also bring me MMO and game characters or characters from your novels and stories.

A Hero Forge mini can become a portrait, or you can have a real person painted into a fantasy world from a photo.

Bring me a character you’ve played for years or someone who only exists in your writing. I’d love to hear about them.

For scenes, covers or a bigger idea, start on the Custom Project page.

How are your portraits made, and who will I work with?

👋 Hi, I’m Jan! I started FramedFantasy in 2022 with personal portraits.

Your portrait is custom digital artwork, with painted details shaped around your character and the brief we agree together.

I personally work on every portrait, with help from my team of vetted artists.

You’ll talk directly with me throughout your commission, and every piece gets my personal quality check before it reaches you.

You’re also supporting working artists when you commission us. Every artist who helps bring your portrait to life is paid for their work.

What's the Heroic Money Back Guarantee?

Your first polished preview comes with my Heroic Money Back Guarantee.

If it misses the character you described in your brief, please email me within 72 hours of the preview being sent, before requesting any revisions.

I’ll refund the base commission in full.

That refund covers the base painting. Add-ons, upgrades, rush fees and physical prints aren’t included.

If you’d like to keep working on it together, you have unlimited revisions within your original brief.

The guarantee ends when you request revisions or the 72-hour window passes.

You can read the full Refund Policy and eligibility conditions here →

What is included in unlimited revisions, and what costs extra?

Of course. Your commission includes unlimited revisions within your original brief.

That covers changes to colors, lighting, expression and details we agreed on.

You’re welcome to tell me what still doesn’t feel right. There’s no need to save your feedback for one last round.

In your commission hub, you can mark the detail on the painting and leave me a note. That shows me exactly what you mean.

If you’d like a different pose, a major outfit redesign or a big new element outside your brief, that’s extra work.

I’ll agree the price with you before painting it, so you can decide whether you’d like to go ahead.

How does the commission process work?

Choose the portrait you’d like and join its waitlist. It’s free to join.

For a D&D character, the optional Character Quest can help you build a blueprint. For other portraits, your notes, screenshots or photos work too.

Here’s how we’ll make your portrait together:

1. Gather any character notes or references you’d like to share while you wait. They don’t need to be perfectly written.

2. When it’s your turn, I’ll text you a private checkout link.

Choose your portrait size and pay in full before painting starts.

3. Add your blueprint, notes and references to your private commission hub.

4. I’ll read your details within 24 hours and ask about anything we still need to work out.

We’ll confirm the brief together before I start painting.

5. You’ll see your first polished preview in about two weeks once you’ve checked out, I’ve received all your details, and we’ve confirmed the brief together.

6. We’ll work through unlimited revisions within your brief together. Once you approve the portrait, you can download your final high resolution files.

Your hub keeps our messages, your details and each version of the painting together. You can mark a change on the art so I see what you mean.

Why is there a waitlist?

I take a limited number of commissions at a time. I want your portrait to have the time and attention it deserves.

As each commission is finished, a spot opens for the next one.

You can join the waitlist for free, and I’ll text you when it’s your turn.

There’s nothing to pay while you wait. You’ll only pay when a spot opens and you decide you’d like a portrait.

Can I have multiple characters in one portrait?

Yes, I’d love to paint your party together.

Each character is its own order.

I paint everyone separately first, so each character’s face and individual details get their own attention.

Everyone gets their own portrait file to keep. Then I bring the whole party into the scene we’ve planned together.

Three or more characters include a free custom background.

Group pieces take a little longer than a single portrait. We’ll talk through the timing when we plan yours.

Can I add pets, familiars or mounts?

Yes, companions are often half the story. Choose the Pets and Familiars add-on and tell me about them in your blueprint.

Send any references you have and the little details that make them recognisable, just as you would for your character.

Tell me how you’d like them together. That relationship can be part of the portrait too.

For a large mount or a complicated companion, ask me before ordering. I’ll confirm how it fits the add-on and quote any extra work first.

What do I receive with my commission?

You’ll get a high resolution digital file with no watermark, ready for printing, sharing online, your VTT or your phone background.

Your final files stay in your private commission hub, so you can come back and download them again later.

Credit is always appreciated when you share your portrait.

If you’d love it on your wall, I also offer two print options shipped to you, so you don’t have to arrange the printing yourself.

The cotton canvas uses heavy artist grade canvas. It’s gallery wrapped and ready to hang.

The acrylic print puts your portrait behind clear acrylic for deep color and a clean, modern look.

How long does a commission take?

You’ll see your first polished preview in about two weeks.

Those two weeks start once you’ve checked out, I’ve got all your character details, and we’ve confirmed the brief together.

It’s a polished painting for you to look over, with room for unlimited revisions within your brief.

Each revision round usually takes a few days. The final delivery date depends on how many rounds we need.

I’ll keep you posted along the way, and you can check the progress in your private commission hub.

Party portraits need a little more time than a single character. We’ll talk through the timing when we plan yours.

If you’ve added Living Motion, your animated portrait arrives three to five days after the final art.

Can I request something that isn't a standard portrait?

Yes, I’d love to hear your idea. Email me and tell me what you’re picturing.

You don’t need to figure out exactly how to order it before we talk.

For scenes, covers or a bigger project, start with the inquiry form on the Custom Project page.

I read every inquiry myself and reply with the scope, quote and next steps. You’ll have the details you need before deciding to go ahead.

Will you post my artwork on social media?

I sometimes share finished portraits on my socials. It’s lovely to show the characters people have trusted me to paint.

If yours is for an unreleased book or project, or you’d simply prefer to keep it private, just tell me and it stays private.

You don’t need to give a reason. You can let me know in your brief or message me while we’re working on it.

Can I use the artwork commercially?

Yes, you can use your finished portrait commercially. That includes a book cover, merch or a brand project.

Tell me what you have planned when we talk about the portrait. I’d love to make sure the artwork suits what you want to use it for.

If you’d like written confirmation, I’m happy to sign a document giving you permission to use the finished artwork commercially.

For covers, scenes or a bigger project, the Custom Project page is a good place to start.

How can I ask you another question?

You’re very welcome to email me. Tell me what you’re imagining or which part of commissioning you’d like help with.

You don’t need an order number to ask a question before commissioning.

If you’ve already ordered, message me in your private commission hub. Your brief and the painting will be there with our conversation.
