Questions creators usually ask

What kinds of projects do you take on?

Book covers, interior illustrations and custom fantasy scenes are all welcome.

I also paint TTRPG campaign scenes, indie game environments and cover art, party portraits in full scenes, and custom landscapes.

Tell me where the artwork will live and what you’d love it to do for your project. We’ll build that purpose into the brief.

If your idea doesn’t fit one of the options, choose “Something else” on the form and tell me about it.

A rough idea or a full brief both give us a place to start. I’d love to hear what you’re imagining.

Who will be working on my project?

👋 Hi, I’m Jan! I personally work on every piece, with help from my team of vetted artists.

You’ll talk directly with me throughout your commission, and every piece gets my personal quality check before it reaches you.

You’re also supporting working artists when you commission us. Every artist who helps bring your project to life is paid for their work.

How does the inquiry process work?

Start with the project form. Tell me the kind of project, its scope and your rough timeline, then tell me about your world.

I read every inquiry myself and email you back within 24 hours with a quote, a written scope and the next steps.

You’ll know what we’re making, what’s included and what it costs before painting starts. If we need to work something out first, I’ll ask.

Commissions are paid in full before painting begins.

For a complex project, we can agree to split the work into parts. Each payment covers the part we paint next.

For example, we can paint a multiple-character commission one character at a time. You pay for that character, we paint them, then move to the next.

We’ll agree on the scope, payment and next steps for each part, so you can see how the larger project will come together.

What should I tell you about my project?

Send me whatever you’ve got. It doesn’t need to be neatly organised.

The setting and mood, important places or characters, story context, time of day and colors all help me picture what you have in mind.

Include any references you’ve saved, where the artwork will be used and the deadline you’re working towards.

Tell me which details you’d love me to get right, especially anything someone new to your world might miss.

You can paste it all into the form. I’ll ask about anything we still need to work out before we agree on the scope.

Send me your project ideas →

How long do projects take?

We’ll agree on a timeline for your project before I start painting, so you know what to plan around.

For a portrait within the project, the first polished preview takes about two weeks once that part is paid for and all character details are received and confirmed.

Larger scenes, complex pieces and sets of illustrations need their own schedule. We’ll base that on the work we’ve agreed to make.

If we’re working in parts, we’ll agree which piece comes next and when you’ll receive it.

Let me know your deadline in the form, especially if you’re planning a launch or campaign.

Rush work may be possible if the schedule allows. I’ll confirm that in your quote.

Let’s talk about your project timeline →

Are revisions included?

Of course. Your commission includes unlimited revisions within your agreed brief.

That covers changes to colors, lighting and details we agreed on.

You’re welcome to tell me what still doesn’t feel right. There’s no need to save your feedback for one last round.

If you’d like to change the agreed scope, such as replacing a forest scene with a city or adding a big new element, that’s extra work.

I’ll agree the price with you before painting it, so you can decide whether you’d like to go ahead.

Here’s what’s included in the Terms of Service →

How is the price decided?

The starting price is listed at the top of this page. Your final quote depends on the scope, detail, unique elements and timeline.

I’ll put the work and agreed price in writing before we start. That’s the price for that scope.

If you later want to add something or take the artwork in a new direction, we’ll agree on a separate quote before I do the extra work.

You pay in full before we paint the agreed work.

For a complex project, we can split the scope into parts and paint them one at a time. Each part is paid for before it starts.

We’ll put that plan in writing too, so you know what each payment covers.
