the job board in the rain
Tear a job off the board for your next session. Tap a notice, or the d20.
A town notice board stands under a little shingled roof on a wet night. Twenty notices are pinned to it, each one a job for your next session, and the town’s own d20 hangs beside them on a chain.
Roll the d20, and that notice comes down. The front is the job the way the town wrote it. The back is what’s really going on, what the players can see without a roll, and the clock, which is what happens if nobody takes the job.
1. Duchess ate a key. A large grey dog has eaten a key, and Old Hob wants the dog back first. The key opens the strongroom under a counting house, and the thieves need it by midnight tomorrow.
2. A goat saw the thief. Widow Pell needs someone to sit up all night with her goat. A druid rides in at dawn to ask the goat what it saw, and the thief knows.
Above them all, the oldest poster is nailed up longer than anyone in town remembers. Twelve have vanished on the road to the Hollow Stump tavern, and nobody in town has taken the job, because it’s for your own character.
